On-Call, Still Thankful :)

RN Case Manager Lesa was the nurse on our team who worked yesterday while the rest of us were enjoying enormous Thanksgiving feasts with our families and friends. When the day began, Lesa expected to be busy: She had five visits already on her schedule. But as days do, yesterday took an unexpected turn, and Lesa wound up going out to make seven different visits in our multi-county area, responding to patient needs of all sorts and and providing support and education for families.

Back at home, Lesa’s husband, three young children, and her in-laws gathered to share the Thanksgiving meal. Mid-day, Lesa stopped at a gas station and picked up her own travel version of the feast–a turkey sandwich and a cranberry drink. She added some chips to work in the potatoes. 🙂

Late at night, long after dark, Lesa made it back home to enjoy her own plate of Thanksgiving dinner, the way it should be: cooked with love and enjoyed with gratitude. We’re grateful to Lesa for shouldering on-call yesterday and we share her gratitude for this work we all love so much.
