About Us

The primary goal of hospice care is simple: To ensure the highest quality of life possible in the last six months of life.

For terminally ill patients, pain, nausea, fatigue, and anxiety is often a central concern. At Suburban Hospice, Inc. – formerly Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice – our goal is to make our patients as comfortable as possible. But excellent hospice services go much further than that; the “little things” count too.

Mission

To be a high quality, compassionate provider of end of life care by alleviating suffering and improving quality of life through our kindness, our training and our calling to serve the patients and families we are privileged to know.

Our Story

Kindness. One person at a time.

Hancock Regional Hospice has been providing care to the patients of Hancock Health for more than 30 years. We have a proven track record of high-quality care delivered with love.

The story of how we came to be Suburban Hospice is one of cooperation and collaboration with independent hospitals in Indiana.  In 2015, Hancock Health joined forces with Riverview Health and Witham Health

Services to form Suburban Home Health. I have the pleasure of serving on the board of Suburban Home Health. As a result of that relationship, Riverview and Witham both expressed a need to have a high-quality provider of end of life care for their patients. We started talking about how we might be able to make the best use of the expertise and experience that Hancock Health had in hospice care and expand our services to include the communities served by Riverview and Witham. Recently, we formed Suburban Hospice to fill that need.

While Suburban Home Health and Suburban Hospice are separate companies, our relationship is strong enough to call us “sisters.” Our vision is to build a “health at home” service line to meet the needs and desires of the patients of those hospitals who are part of the Suburban Health Organization (SHO). Suburban Health Organization is a collaborative network of independent, comprehensive providers recognized by payers and consumers for delivering the highest value health care services in our communities.

Suburban Hospice was built on a foundation of experience and trust and a strong commitment to providing excellence in end of life care for all of the communities we serve. Our nurses and social workers, chaplains, aides, physicians, and nurse practitioners believe that they were called to this work, and that shows in their compassion and dedication to their patients. It is our privilege and honor to be a part of a very difficult but sacred time in the lives of our families.
